Alexandra Palace Set to Launch UK’s Highest Roof Walk Experience

Alexandra Palace is preparing to open a new rooftop attraction that will offer visitors what organisers describe as the highest roof walk experience in the UK. The attraction, named Summit, is scheduled to launch on 14 February 2026 and will allow members of the public to walk across the roof of the historic north London venue while secured by safety harnesses. Reaching around 130 metres above sea level, the experience takes advantage of the palace’s hilltop location, giving it a higher elevation than many other rooftop attractions across the country. The guided route is designed to provide wide views across London, with organisers saying visibility can stretch up to 25 miles on clear days. The opening adds a new leisure offering to the long established venue, which already hosts concerts, exhibitions and cultural events throughout the year.

The Summit experience has been developed by adventure attraction company Wire & Sky, which is known for creating rooftop and climbing experiences at major UK landmarks. The company has previously delivered attractions such as stadium skywalks and rig climbs at historic ships and sports grounds. At Alexandra Palace, the route has been purpose built to integrate with the existing structure while preserving the character of the listed building. The walk lasts around an hour and leads participants across the roof towards the Angel of Plenty statue, before opening up into a full 360 degree panorama of the capital. From the elevated walkway, visitors are expected to see well known landmarks including St Paul’s Cathedral, The Shard and Canary Wharf, along with several major football stadiums.

Organisers say the attraction is intended to appeal to a wide range of visitors, with daytime, sunset and evening walks planned throughout the year. Group bookings, private climbs and educational sessions aimed at schools and youth groups will also be available. Representatives from Wire & Sky said the project offers a new way to experience both the building and London’s skyline, while working closely with Alexandra Palace to ensure the route complements the site. Alexandra Palace management said the roof walk adds another dimension to the venue’s visitor offering and provides a fresh perspective on one of London’s most recognisable cultural landmarks.
