Prison Escapee Posts Second Drill Rap Video While Evading Police

A convicted robber who escaped police custody twice within days has reportedly posted a second drill rap video while still on the run, as the Metropolitan Police continue efforts to locate him.
Daniel Boakye, 21, absconded from Lewisham Hospital in south east London on 15 February after being taken there for medical treatment. Officers gave chase but were unable to detain him and he has not been found since. Just five days earlier, Boakye had escaped from West Middlesex University Hospital before being recaptured the following day.
Police have released a new CCTV image of Boakye following his most recent escape. He is described as a black man of slim build and was last seen wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark Nike jacket.
Boakye, who performs under the drill name dsavv, had already attracted attention after uploading a rap video last week that appeared to reference his escape. A second video has now surfaced online, allegedly showing him in the back of a car rapping lyrics that suggest he is evading authorities. In the footage, he appears to boast about escaping twice and claims he always finds his way.
The videos have prompted criticism online, with some social media users calling for swift action from police. Officers have not commented directly on the content of the recordings but confirmed that active efforts to trace and arrest Boakye are ongoing.
Boakye was sentenced in 2023 to six years and five months in prison after being convicted as part of a robbery gang that targeted victims at knifepoint. The group forced individuals to reveal phone passcodes in order to access cryptocurrency accounts and stole an estimated 115,000 pounds in digital assets. They also used victims’ bank details to pay for taxis and top up prepaid cards.
The circumstances surrounding the hospital escape are under internal review. The Metropolitan Police said they are examining how the incident unfolded and that the force’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been notified. The review will assess procedures and security arrangements in place at the time of the escape.
Hospital transfers can pose security challenges, particularly when inmates require medical care outside prison facilities. Police have not disclosed the specific reason for Boakye’s hospital visit but confirmed that he was in custody at the time he fled.
Authorities are urging members of the public not to approach Boakye if seen and to contact police immediately with any information about his whereabouts. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to search for the escaped prisoner.
