A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a teenage boy who was fatally stabbed in north London earlier this month.

Fifteen year old Adam Henry died after suffering stab wounds on Westbourne Road in Islington on 9 December. Emergency services treated him at the scene before he was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Abdel Derdour, 22, of Old Gloucester Street in Camden, has been charged with murder and with possession of a knife in a public place. He appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

During the brief hearing, the court was told that the charge relates to a fatal stabbing that took place in a residential area of north London. Derdour did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear next at Inner London Crown Court on New Year’s Eve, where further proceedings will take place.

Police launched a murder investigation shortly after the incident, appealing for witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Officers said the investigation remains ongoing and urged anyone with information to come forward.

Tributes have been paid to Adam Henry by family members, who described him as a much loved son and friend. A photograph released by the family shows him smiling, with relatives asking for privacy as they continue to grieve.

The case is the latest in a series of knife related incidents in the capital, renewing concerns about youth violence and public safety in London. Police have said tackling knife crime remains a priority, with increased patrols and community engagement efforts continuing across affected boroughs.
