Four appear in court after Jewish ambulance arson attack in north west London

Four people have appeared in court following a serious arson attack that destroyed ambulances serving a Jewish community in north west London, raising concerns about targeted crime and public safety.
The case was heard at Old Bailey, where three men and a teenage boy faced charges linked to the incident. The accused include Hamza Iqbal, Rehan Khan and Judex Atshatshi, along with a 17 year old who cannot be named for legal reasons.
The charges relate to a fire that broke out in the early hours of March 23 in Golders Green, an area known for its large Jewish population. The ambulances, operated by Hatzola, were reportedly fully equipped when they were set alight, triggering explosions and leaving the vehicles completely destroyed.
Prosecutors allege that three of the suspects were directly involved in setting the fire, while a fourth individual waited nearby in a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident. Emergency services responded quickly, but the damage to the ambulances was extensive, disrupting a vital community emergency response service.
The court heard that all four defendants have been remanded in custody as the investigation continues. The next stage in the legal process is scheduled for August 28, when a plea hearing is expected to take place.
The incident has drawn attention due to its impact on emergency services and the community it serves, with authorities continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the attack and any possible motivations behind it.
