Rapper Ghetts Faces Charges After Fatal London Collision
British rapper Ghetts, whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, has been formally charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a fatal hit-and-run incident in north-east London.
Incident Details
According to the Metropolitan Police, the 41-year-old artist allegedly struck a 20-year-old man on Redbridge Lane East in Ilford on the evening of Saturday, 18 October. Authorities claim that Clarke-Samuel did not stop after the collision.
The victim was rushed to hospital with severe injuries but later died from his wounds on Monday. As a result, prosecutors are expected to upgrade the charge to causing death by dangerous driving at the next court hearing.
Court Proceedings
Clarke-Samuel appeared before Stratford Magistrates’ Court on the same day the victim passed away. The rapper, known for his influence on the UK grime scene, was remanded into custody pending further proceedings. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, 27 October, at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court.
Police Appeal
Detectives have urged anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage from the area to come forward. The Metropolitan Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
