Two Killed in Suspected Ramming and Stabbing Attack in Northern Israel

Two people were killed on Friday in what Israeli police described as a rolling terror attack involving a vehicle ramming and a stabbing in northern Israel, an incident that unfolded across several locations and left multiple victims injured.
According to police, the attack began in the eastern city of Beit Shean, where the suspect deliberately ran over pedestrians. A 68 year old man was killed in the incident, while a 16 year old boy was injured and taken to hospital for treatment. Emergency services responded quickly as the suspect fled the scene by car.
The attacker then drove west for about 12 kilometres before carrying out a second assault near Ein Harod. There, police said the suspect stabbed an 18 year old woman, who later died from her injuries. The two stage nature of the incident led authorities to describe it as a rolling attack rather than a single isolated act.
After the stabbing, the suspect continued driving before being intercepted near the city of Afula. Police said the attacker was shot and wounded by a civilian, bringing the incident to an end. The suspect was taken into custody while receiving medical care, and security forces launched an investigation into the motive and background of the attack.
Israeli police have said the incident is being treated as a suspected Palestinian terror attack, though officials stressed that inquiries are ongoing. Security forces increased their presence across northern Israel following the violence, particularly around transport routes and public areas.
The attack occurred amid heightened tensions in the region. Just a day earlier, an Israeli military reservist was dismissed from service after footage circulated online showing him ramming a praying Palestinian with a quad bike. The video sparked widespread condemnation and added to an already volatile atmosphere.
Political leaders and emergency officials expressed condolences to the families of the victims, while calling for calm as investigations continue. Medical teams said the injured teenager was in stable condition after receiving treatment.
Incidents involving vehicle rammings and stabbings have been a recurring security concern in Israel in recent years, particularly during periods of heightened political and military tension. Authorities say such attacks are difficult to prevent because they often involve everyday objects used as weapons.
As the investigation continues, police urged the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activity. The attacks have once again highlighted the fragile security situation and the ongoing risks faced by civilians in the region.
