A five-year-old boy has died after a wall collapsed at an adventure golf centre in south-east London, leaving the local community in shock and grief. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening at Sidcup Family Golf in Chislehurst, where the boy and a six-year-old girl were struck by falling debris from a wall near one of the attractions.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 5:40 p.m. following reports that two children had been injured. Both children were rushed to hospital, with the boy in a life-threatening condition. Despite intensive medical efforts, he died on Tuesday. The girl, who also sustained injuries, has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

A spokesperson for Sidcup Family Golf expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. “We are deeply saddened to hear that the child injured on Sunday has tragically passed away,” the statement read. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the child’s family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. We are cooperating fully with the authorities as they continue their investigation and are providing every possible support to those affected.”

Police officers remained at the site in the days following the collapse as they worked to determine how the wall gave way. Witnesses described scenes of panic as staff and visitors rushed to help the children before emergency responders arrived.

Local authorities have also expressed sympathy and pledged support for the family. A spokesperson for Bromley Council called the event a “desperately sad incident,” adding, “Our thoughts are with the family at this time. The police are currently investigating, and the council is liaising closely with them.”

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that inquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the collapse. Structural engineers have been called in to inspect the area, and safety assessments are being carried out to ensure there is no further risk to the public.

Residents in the area have placed flowers and messages near the entrance of the golf centre, offering condolences to the boy’s family. One local parent described the event as “every family’s worst nightmare,” saying that the community is “heartbroken beyond words.”

The golf centre, which has been a popular family destination for years, remains closed while investigations continue. Officials have not yet confirmed when it will reopen.

As authorities work to uncover how this tragedy occurred, the focus remains on supporting the grieving family and ensuring such a devastating accident cannot happen again.
