Fikayo Tomori Opens Up on Milan Life and Career Highs

AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori says he is enjoying the best period of his career while living and playing in Italy, praising the club’s environment and head coach Massimiliano Allegri for his influence on the team’s performance.
Tomori, who has played 194 games for Milan, revealed the meaning behind his full name, Oluwafikayomi Oluwadamilola Tomori, which reflects his Nigerian heritage. “Oluwafikayomi means ‘God has filled me with joy’ and Oluwadamilola means ‘God has filled me with wealth,’” he explained to BBC Sport. Known simply as “Fik” in Milan, he said the name carries personal significance while his career continues to flourish.
On the field, Milan sit second in Serie A, just one point behind the leaders, showcasing the team’s consistency and resilience this season. Tomori highlighted the impact of Allegri’s tactical approach, praising the manager’s guidance in improving both defensive solidity and attacking transitions.
“I feel really good here,” Tomori said. “The staff, the team, the city—everything has helped me develop. I’m enjoying my football more than ever.” He also discussed adapting to life in Italy, noting how the experience has helped him grow as both a player and an individual.
With Milan performing strongly domestically and in European competitions, Tomori’s form and leadership at the back are considered vital to the club’s ambitions this season.
