Police have arrested two individuals following an attempted arson attack on a synagogue in London, which is being treated as a hate crime. The incident targeted the Finchley Reform Synagogue, where suspects allegedly threw bottles believed to contain petrol along with a brick at the building in the early hours of the morning.

According to the Metropolitan Police, a 47 year old woman and a 46 year old man were detained in the Watford area on suspicion of arson endangering life. Authorities said the suspects were wearing balaclavas when they approached the site at around 1:00 BST. Despite the nature of the attack, no injuries or significant damage were reported.

Police have classified the incident as an antisemitic hate crime and are appealing for witnesses as investigations continue. Forensic teams were deployed to the scene to gather evidence, and officers are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.

The case comes amid heightened concern over attacks targeting Jewish communities. Authorities noted that counter terrorism police are also involved in investigating a recent incident in which vehicles belonging to a Jewish charity were set on fire, suggesting a broader pattern of threats being examined.

Officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The arrests mark a significant step in the investigation, but police say further inquiries are ongoing as they work to ensure community safety and prevent similar incidents.
