UK Protection Officers Reportedly Assigned to Guard 2010 Dinner at Epstein Residence

New reports have revealed that Metropolitan Police protection officers assigned to Andrew Mountbatten Windsor were instructed to provide security at a dinner party held at Jeffrey Epstein’s New York residence in 2010.
According to British media accounts, emails contained within recently released Epstein related files appear to detail arrangements for Mountbatten Windsor to stay at the financier’s home in December 2010. The correspondence reportedly referenced two protection officers from London’s Metropolitan Police who were present during the visit.
One email, said to have been sent on the eve of the dinner, included the subject line Security for party and indicated that the officers had been given instructions at the door. The reports have intensified scrutiny surrounding Mountbatten Windsor’s past association with Epstein, who died in a US jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
The Metropolitan Police said they had no further comment when asked about the latest claims. Earlier this week, officers confirmed they were contacting former members of Mountbatten Windsor’s protection team as part of ongoing inquiries. Police have stated that no wrongdoing by the protection officers has been identified at this stage.
Mountbatten Windsor was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office in a separate investigation being handled by Thames Valley Police. He was released under investigation after being questioned for more than ten hours. The inquiry is examining allegations that he may have shared confidential government documents with Epstein while serving as a UK trade envoy.
As part of that investigation, officers have been conducting searches at his former residence in Windsor. Authorities have emphasised that the investigation remains active and that no charges have been brought.
Mountbatten Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. In previous statements, he said he regretted his association with the financier but maintained that he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal conduct at the time of their friendship.
In 2022, he reached a financial settlement in a US civil case brought by Virginia Giuffre, who alleged that she had been sexually abused as a teenager by him at properties linked to Epstein. The settlement did not include an admission of liability, and he has denied the allegations.
The latest disclosures are likely to add to the political and public debate surrounding the handling of high profile relationships and the use of official security resources. With investigations continuing and additional documents still under review, questions remain about the extent of official involvement and oversight during the 2010 visit.
