Hollywood’s awards season is now in full swing as the nominees for the 2026 Golden Globes were announced on Monday, setting the stage for one of the industry’s most anticipated celebrations. The winners will be revealed on January 11, forming a major stepping stone toward the Oscars in March. This year’s nominations highlight an eclectic mix of acclaimed films, global storytelling and standout performances across cinema, television and podcasts.

In the film categories, the drama shortlist showcases a range of gripping narratives with titles such as Frankenstein, Hamnet, It Was Just an Accident, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Sinners. The musical or comedy category offers a lighter mix with entries like Blue Moon, Bugonia, Marty Supreme, No Other Choice, Nouvelle Vague and One Battle After Another. The momentum behind international cinema is also reflected in the non English language film category, which includes Sentimental Value, Sirat and The Voice of Hind Rajab among others.

Animated films continue to shine with a diverse group of nominees, among them Arco, Elio, KPop Demon Hunters, Little Amelie or the Character of Rain and the widely anticipated Zootopia 2. Performances in drama categories brought attention to actors such as Jessie Buckley for Hamnet, Jennifer Lawrence for Die My Love, Joel Edgerton for Train Dreams and Oscar Isaac for Frankenstein. In musical or comedy films, Rose Byrne, Cynthia Erivo, Kate Hudson and Emma Stone earned recognition for roles that blended humour and emotional depth.

Supporting roles across film categories featured names like Emily Blunt, Ariana Grande, Jacob Elordi and Stellan Skarsgard. Meanwhile, the cinematic and box office achievement category honoured major crowd favourites including Avatar Fire and Ash, Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning, Sinners and Zootopia 2.

Directing and screenwriting talent is well represented with Paul Thomas Anderson, Ryan Coogler, Guillermo del Toro, Jafar Panahi, Joachim Trier and Chloe Zhao all nominated. Music remains an essential part of the awards, with original song and score categories highlighting contributions from Miley Cyrus, Stephen Schwartz, Nick Cave, Alexandre Desplat and Hans Zimmer.

Television categories are equally competitive. The drama series shortlist includes The Diplomat, Severance, Slow Horses and The White Lotus. On the comedy side, The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Hacks and Only Murders in the Building continue to dominate the conversation. Limited series nominees such as Adolescence, Black Mirror, Dying for Sex and The Girlfriend reflect a strong year of bold, compact storytelling.

Acting nominations span a wide range of talent, from Kathy Bates and Bella Ramsey to Adam Scott and Gary Oldman. Comedy and limited series categories honour Kristen Bell, Ayo Edebiri, Steve Martin, Claire Danes and Jude Law. The podcast category also continues to grow in prestige with nominees like Armchair Expert, SmartLess and The Mel Robbins Podcast.

With such a rich and varied selection of nominees, the 2026 Golden Globes promise a dynamic night celebrating creativity, global influence and outstanding achievements across the entertainment world.
